Multi remote system

I want to be able to set up my Ion and a wireless router to be able

to have access to the Ion with an RVI (using the LAN ports on the router)

my laptop or the designer's laptop (using either the wireless or a LAN connection)

and my iPad running Virtual RFR (via wi-fi)

what do I need to have the IP addresses set to when I set this system up . .and all those check boxes .. which ones are checked and which ones are not . .

the router is a LinkSys WR160 N wireless router . . .

I've seemed to cobble it together to work with the iPad (not how it was explained online btw) but have my doubts when it will come time to set up the RVI or laptop (aka tech)

Thanks . .

  • Hi Paul,

I would suggest setting up your network as follows:

    Ion Console:

Enable DHCP not checked (static IP address)

    IP - 10.101.100.101

    Subnet - 255.255.0.0

    Gateway - 10.101.100.101

    Network services checked

Address Service checked (allowing the Ion to serve IP addresses to your laptops and iPad)

    RVi:

Enable DHCP not checked (static IP address)

    IP - 10.101.85.101

    Subnet - 255.255.0.0

    Gateway - 10.101.85.101

    Network services checked

    Address Service not checked

    LinkSys Router:

    IP - 10.101.124.101

    Subnet - 255.255.0.0

    Gateway - 10.101.124.101

It is likely that the router has a DHCP service running as a default - turn this off as the Ion will be acting as the address server in your system

    iPad:

Keep your iPad set to DHCP, then you will be given an available IP address by the console

    Your laptop:

You could set a static IP address on your laptop, but as you have an address server running you may as well use it, then you won't need to change your IP settings on your laptop if you use it on other networks. The same goes for your designers laptop.

Hope that clarifies things  little, let us know if you have further questions.

    Graham
