Ion: Keep Channels captured when using "go to cue"

I'm still new to the Ion and I can't figure something out.  On all the other ETC consoles I've used if I type [channel] [1] [at] [full] [enter] and then go to a another cue in my list channel 1 will not change regardless of what it was recorded at in the cue.

Now if I go to another cue, channel 1 will be released and go to whatever is recorded.  Is there a way that I can keep my captured channels captured regardless of cue/sub master intensity?

  • Correct, I believe the console is working correctly, because what you are currently doing is capturing a channel in Live, and then navigating to a recorded cue which no longer has that channel in it. One way you can keep a channel up no matter if you navigate to a new cue would be to park the channel.

    Hope this helps!

  • Yes. You can use the [Capture] button.

    From the manual:

Capture is a manual independent state. Any captured channel parameter data will be unaffected by playback, but will respond to manual control operations.

When channels are selected, [Capture] [Enter] captures all parameters of those channels. They will remain unavailable for playback or submaster override until they are released from the captured state. Capture is a toggle state, so to release parameters from a captured state, press [Capture] [Enter] again.

For Example: • [1] [Thru] [9] [At] [Full] [Capture] [Enter]

A “C” is displayed next to the captured parameters (intensity) in the channel display. The selected channels are now captured and are unavailable for playback or submaster instructions until they are released from capture.

    -M

  • THANKS!!!!  One extra button, but I can live with that.

Marcs way of doing it is even better, if this channel is not needed for playback at all!

  • In your example, [Chan 1 at full], pressing [go] or [back] on the fader will not change channel 1's level because it is a selected channel with a manual  level (red text). But if you type [Go to Cue X] using your command line, channel 1 is no longer selected, so it will change unless it is [captured] as described above.

  • I too am so used to having a captured channel 'stay-put', even when advancing thru cues, I prefer to run the Ion in capture mode. This way I don't have to hit the capture key all the time.
