Long mark times on scrollers

Hello all,

I often want to mark my scrollers over a long time, so as to not hear them move.

I’m getting confused with how to set a mark time for the scrollers; please can someone either confirm this would work, or tell me the right way!

DETAILS:

Scrollers are saved as Group 1

I want to mark them in Cue 6 over 30 seconds

Marked ready for cue 8

 

Whilst in Cue 8: [Group 1 Mark Cue 6 Time 30 Enter]

 

Would this apply the scrollers to mark in cue 6, ready for cue 8, over a time of 30 seconds regardless of the cues fade times?

    The two cues for a marking thing are the Reference (or Target) Cue where the new positions are recorded, and the Marking Cue which is when the moves will happen.

    Eos will move the fixtures using the times of the Marking Cue, unless you've set a discrete time in the Reference Cue.

    In your example, Reference is Cue 8, Marking is Cue 6.

    So to set a mark time, set a discrete time for the particular channels in the Reference Cue (in this case, Cue 8).

    Thanks for both answers! Making a part 2 cue seems like an easier option to get my head around.

     

    Richard: So to confirm, the discrete time i need to set for the marking is done  whilst in the Reference cue, even though the timing is effecting what happens in the marking cue?

     

    So basically, it would follow:

    Mark the Cue whilst in Cue 8: [Group 1 Mark  Cue 6 Enter]

    Set discrete time whilst STILL in cue 8: [Group 1 colour time 30 Enter]

     

    Am i getting that right? In my head i would of thought the Eos would assume the 30 second colour time fade would be for cue 8, not the mark cue 6, becuase i record in IN cue 8....but then i guess becuase this is now a Reference cue, it knows the discrete timing is for the mark cue, yeah?

    Sorry people, only just started using an Eos!!

    Hi Matt-

    You are correct - all of the data for the light is stored in Cue 8, ie it's intensity, position, colour, and discrete times. All of these bit of data (except the intensity, of course) are used as references in the marking cue.

    If you change the focus/beam/color or discrete time information in the R cue, this will always change the behaviour of the M cue the next time it is run.
