A Request for the Ion

Hello all,

I've been an Eos programmer for quite a while, and I've programmed some very large gigs using the Eos. Up until now, I haven't really ever actually found myself programming on the Ion, but now I'm moving in that direction and trying to learn the differences between the two from the top down.

One of the things that is already bugging me is the lack of individual hard keys for the Select Last/Active/Manual keys. I use Select Active all the time when building ML focus cue stacks, and I use Select Manual pretty often as well. In all honesty, I use Select Last significantly less than the other two Select buttons, however that's the one that has a hard key, and the others require another softkey selection.

Is it possible in a future release to maybe allow the user to choose what Select function is the default on that hard key, and have the others selectable on softkeys? This would be something that could be set in Show or Desk settings, and could change relatively easily. I don't know if the software will even allow this, but turning the Select Active or Select Manual function back into a one-press command would be a huge advantage for me.

Thanks!

  • Have you considered purchasing an X-keys and programming your favorite buttons onto it? They are fairly inexpensive and can be custom programmed (by you) to your needs.  We have both an EOS and an Ion in the complex.  I take an X-keys with me whenever I program the Ion so I can get to those hard keys I have on the EOS that I miss having on the Ion.  It works via USB and can go anywhere in the system (on the console, on an RVI, laptop with client running, etc....)

    Just a thought....
