Ion subs

An oddity discovered while recording submasters in 1.9.6

"Ch., XX, @, 50, Enter, Record, Press both upper and lower bump buttons" records the sub.

If desiring to re-record the sub, same command line syntax except you only press the lower bump button plus Enter to confirm, to re-record the look. (As opposed to Record, Sub, XX, Enter, or doing an Update, Sub, XX, Enter).

I understand the reason, as once the sub is recorded, pressing the upper bump button selects the Group list for that sub.

Just seems counterintuitive to press both for one record and lower only for a second.  Maybe go back to initial record only requires the lower button be pressed ?.

  • I think that the bigger issue is that using only the lower button doesn't tell it what sub to record, as the faders aren't assigned as subs by default - it could guess which one you mean, but that's a dangerous game, especially as that sub might already exist but be unmapped.

You could load unrecorded subs to the faders to start with, then you can record with just the lower button.

  • I might have prefaced by stating that my Normal is to have subs mapped to faders on the wings.  I'm aware that the faders are subs as they then show sub numbers on the wing)s) LCD screen(s) and I'm also aware that nothings recorded to the subs, as no LED's are lit.  That's my starting point.

1.9 allowed a single press of the lower sub bump button to record the look.  Re-recording the sub was the same syntax with one button press.  This is also a common record process on the Express and Expression line as well.  Which is why it seems odd to have a dual press in one instance and s single press in the re-record.
