you can do UDP to the ip address of the Ion.  You have to se the port number in the setup on the Ion and match it on the software you are using.

Ethernet port.  you would need to have a computer/iPad etc on the network with a valid ip address to work properly.  I'm not sure if the local serial port is available for serial strings at this time.  I currently send UDP commands from my iPad to my Eos console.  Alcorn Mcbride makes a small app for the iphone that lets you make 8 buttons that send UDP commands.  It is nice to test with.

Is the offline client supposed to support sending UDP strings? I have tried enabling the transmit feature but the messages aren't showing up in Wireshark traces. I AM seeing ACN and other UDP traffic from the client.
