First show impressions

Hey Anne,

My first EOS show opened on Tuesday, and is going really well - the console has been great, and I haven't had any major problems at all with it. Pretty much everything I've wanted to do has been self-explanatory and the elegant user interface is such a pleasure to work with - so clear and intuitive.

Effects are really neat - very simple yet so powerful and versatile - and I love the way they just embed in the cue list. The only thing I miss here right now is being able to load an absolute effect onto a submaster and step through it manually... Track & trace is great - I'm brand new to tracking, but I'm already hooked on that way of working, and referenced marking is an absolute god-send for me... All in all the console has saved so much time on this show by taking away much of the tedium of marking, re-marking, and selective updating through cue ranges.

When it became obvious a few months ago we'd have to change consoles, I felt extremely despondent as I honestly didn't think there were any consoles out there to rival Virtuoso DX. We went through a few demos and trials of other consoles, but none of them really did it for me. I knew EOS would be good due to its "DNA", but in all honestly it has completely exceeded my expectations. In my opinion EOS isn't as good as Virtuoso; it is already an order of magnitude better - particularly for theatre applications. The only thing that really trips me up in a bad way is that the [.] and [Clear] keys are the other way round on the EOS compared to the Virtuoso and I still get it wrong every single time I try to select a point cue!!! I'm sure I'll get over it eventually :)

I do have several 'how do you' and 'why doesn't it' type queries which I'll start feeding in here as and when I get a chance; some of which are quite important to me. But on the whole I'm extremely happy to be using EOS - thank you for creating such a fantastic product; its exactly what we needed.

Cheers,
David
