Fixture Parameters on Faders

I can't imagine that this isn't possible, but I've been fighting with it for a while so I figure I need someone to hold my hand through the process.  I have a bunch of S4's on motorized yokes with DMX Iris kits.  What I'm hoping I can do is program a set of 4 separate faders on a wing to control the Intensity, Pan, Tilt, and Iris of a single Source 4.  Intensity is easy enough, but I'm finding it rather difficult to get fader control over the other parameters.  What am I missing?

The reason for my set up (If someone needs to know) is that I'm trying to run my Fader Wing a considerable distance away (@ my FOH Mix) and I don't want to drag the whole ION down every time I'm running a show from the FOH.

Thanks!

  • Thanks! I have got the mover control all set up, conveniently the range between -100 and 0 gives me a full spread of the stage.  I am however struggling now getting my RGBW LED wash set up in the same manner.  I tried applying the same steps as before, just replacing pan and tilt with red, green, blue, and white individually.  What I'm finding is the colours come up with the fader as expected, however pulling the fader down does not pull the level back down.  Through playing with it I've discovered that if I give the fader a value of 0 for the red cell (red as an example) they begin to work the way I want - Just upside down.  If I must I can live with getting used to running those particular faders upside down, do you know where I may be going wrong?  Or perhaps is there a way to flip faders?  This one isn't as big, I could get by just mixing a nice wash colour before hand and sticking to that.

    Thanks again!

  • Hi Owen,

Before you get too far down this route I would question how you intend to connect your wing to the console. How far away from the console is your FOH position? The limits on USB cable length may prohibit this. Without checking I think the max recommended cable length for USB is under 5 metres. (without a hub)

You could of course be intending to connect a client laptop and plug the wing in there, in which case you're fine, but just thought I'd flag it up.

I've bought a USB2 over Cat5 extender, I've tested it at 75' - 100' and it's worked no problem with my 2x10 wing.  Perhaps a slight delay, but nothing really noticeable.  Haven't tested it with my 2x20 wing yet.  Thanks for the input though!
