We had an ION console installed in our school auditorium 2 years ago, and have done some amazing things with it. I got bold, and decided to add our first "smart" fixture this year. We bought an American DJ Flash Shot DMX. Unfortunately, there is no profile for this fixture in ION. We're using the latest software - just updated it before trying to install the fixture.
I'm still new to DMX, but I've read about setting DIP switches 1-9 based on Binary to address channels; switch 10 apparently sets the non-DMX behavior. The Flash Shot has a 3-pin interface, which we've attached to our DMX-B output on-stage. Our installation has 1 Sensor+ and 1 UNISON racks, a DMX-A and DMX-B outlet in the control room; DMX-B has outputs on stage and in the catwalk.
The Flash Shot is a 3 channel fixture - I created a new fixture following the manual, and addressed the 3 channels within the profile. First channel is for strobe speed, 2nd for intensity, 3rd for delay. When I use the fixture in ION, it takes up 3 Channels as configured, everything maps to the control wheels, and all looks well - no light, though.
Here's what I've tried so far:
DIP Switch set to "200" on Fixture; Mapped fixture to channel 200 (200-202) on ION.
I thought that maybe DMX-B mapped to 513-1024, so I set DIP switch to 1, ION to 513.
Auto-Discovery does not discover the fixture.
Has anyone else tried mapping this fixture, or am I just a DMX-DUMMY?!?! Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have a show this weekend, and I was planning to use this fixture for a lightning effect and in a fight scene at the end of the play.
Thanks!!
