Sneaky timed sneak

Hi all,

Could someone tell me the right syntax for sneaking a light to a palette in a certain time. The only syntax I’ve not got an error message is [Channel No.] [Colour Palette] [n] [time] [m] [sneak] [ enter]. However, this doesn’t use the time in the command line and uses the time of default sneak.

It also means that I can’t use the direct selects as they self terminate.

So I think I want:

[Channel No.] [time] [n] [sneak] [Colour Palette] [n] [Enter]

Is that right… or am I being a fool?

  • [Channel No.] [Colour Palette] [n] [sneak] [time] [n] [Enter]

Haven't tried this with palettes (only channels), but this would be the syntax from OBS, which seems to be consistent thru EOS.  And yes you have to type in [Colour Palette] [n].  It's only one more keystroke than a direct select.

Let me know how it goes.

  • I've been using Stu's syntax for timed sneaks on the EOS and it has been working fine. I do agree with Crispy though about the direct selects. Often you need to scan through the direct selects anyway to find the palette number you're after, so it would be more convenient to be able to add the palette info to the command line from the direct selects.
  • That's interesting, because using the above syntax did not use the time specified in the command line for me. Could you do me the honour of trying it with radically different times from the default times used in setup and seeing if the desk uses the times used in the setup page or the times set in the command line.

     Cheers

  • Hi mate, I just tried it again for you and the following command line takes the specified time to complete the sneak (I tried it with 60 secs):

[Channel No.] [Colour Palette] [n] [sneak] [time] [n] [Enter]

Whereas the command line you mentioned in your first post took 5 seconds (Setup: Sneak default) to execute (even though time specified as 60):

[Channel No.] [Colour Palette] [n] [time] [n] [sneak] [Enter]

So it appears to only work as expected if the time value is specified after 'sneak' rather than before it...

    Cheers,

    David

  • You are a gentleman and a scholar.

     Thanks very much.

(Now we need to convince them to be able to add direct selects to the action...wink wink)

  • It sounds like you've found your answers, but I'll describe the difference in the two syntaxes above.

[Sneak] after any level setting syntax, fades the level in using the default time. You chan change the time it will fade in by placing a time after the sneak as in [sneak time 5].

If you specify the time before the sneak, Eos thinks you are changing the level, and placing a discrete time on the level to be recored into a cue, the sneak command at the end of the command just tells Eos to fade in all changes from that command line.

  • Hey Chris... sneaking from the direct selects is on the list (haven't talked to Duffy about it yet..... ).  It will mean a change in the syntax order since the direct selects autoteminate.

More to follow on that front.
