Typing commands in EOS offline on Mac

being on a windows platform i can't answer your question about how the scroll lock functionality works on a mac. but on windows it still works. the only thing that changed in 1.9 (?) was that before u had to press scroll lock to use shortcuts unpress it to type commands. now it's the other way round.

Thanks for your reply. I have done a little more investigating and it seems that I was correct in thinking that Mac OS X does not support Scroll Lock as a native feature of the os. Apple have a different philosophy in this regard. They have done away with keys like Home, Scroll Lock and Pause that you usually find on PC qwerty keyboards in favour of modifier keys like the Command or Option keys found on Mac Qwertys. I'm quite new to Mac so I'm still finding a lot of this out for myself! 

Anyway it seems Scroll Lock still exists as a function key in OSX but is only available to third party application developers and is not mapped to any key by default. I found it in the Unicode listings along with the other PC function keys you don't find on Mac keyboards. Scroll Lock is still used in Microsoft Excel for Mac and is mapped to Fn+F14, but for EOS offline it doesn't seem to be mapped to any key combination used by other third party applications listed on the web. I'm sure it's not as simple as mapping the key to my Standard Key Bindings file in the library or I'd do just that. I'd like to know if the command typing functionality works at all on a Mac.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I thought it was a really cool function that would help the slightly absent minded like myself.. It's not a big deal I know, was just wondering if it works or not. I'm a little obsessive like that and it'll bother me until i find out one way or another ^_^

As far as I know, due to the lack of Scroll Lock, there is no way to put the OSX offline into this mode.

Hi all.   As noted, typing commands on a Mac has never been possible, due to lack of said scroll lock.  There are also an increasing number of standard keyboards that don't have a scroll lock key.   We are looking to introduce a command function for this shortly that will work on all keyboards.  Some care has to be taken with this, as we support a fairly high number of "non-Englsh" keyboards and the functions available are variable (and some English alpha characters not available).  On the list to resolve.

Thank you very much for your reply. I didn't expect it to be a high priority, it's nice to know it's on the list. Such a useful function of the console. Really helps me out on Windows machines and I look forward to being able to use it on the Mac.
