IM?

Here's something I can't work out. ION running 1.9.6.  The Live Channel screen has a small panel showing the current cue with column headers Timing, Flags, Atrributes and IM. What does IM stand for? If it's important why doesn't it appear at the top of the Playback Status page?

  • Hi Oovis,

IM is indicating that the fader mode for this cuelist is has been set to Intensity Master. Assuming this is your main cuelist, pulling down the faders for the main playback will likely pull out the intensity contribution of that list. Definitely worth knowing if you are running the show! If there is no specific need for this functionality during the run you might want to consider changing the mode back to proportional. I guess Rob has been using the IM function during programming if he wants to pull down the state while he does a moving light focus or something like that.

  • Just out of curiosity. How would you pull down the fader but not capture the movers intensity?

  • When you pull the master fader, you would pull down the intensities in the cue stack (including any moving lights), but any intensity that is manual would remain up. I often do as Graham suggests. When doing a moving light focus, I'll grab the light I want to focus, put it at full, then pull down the playback  so I can see what I'm doing with the light. Then once the focus is good, restore the fader and if necessary, sneak the intensity of the light.  If you were to pull the grand master instead, it would also take out the light that you are trying go focus.
