Encoder max/min not available in soft key

I likely missed it, but has anyone noted already the bug with Elation 575's (and a VL 1000 I think) that one of the color encoders brings up no [max] [min] softkey when you press it?

  • Hi Alan,

I am seeing some instances where pressing the encoder button will occationally not switch the softkeys.  I'm not sure if this is what you are seeing, though.  This only happens on very rare occurances in 1.9.6 from what I can tell and is definitely not every time I press the encoder down.

The only parameters I'm not seeing Max and Min softkeys on are framed parameter (Color Select).  These will have a next and last button and aren't intended to have a min or max function.

Are either of these what you are seeing?

  • I'm seeing no soft key change when I press the encoder down.  I'm in Color, have Cyan and Magenta and Yellow,  Cyan and Magenta behave as I expect (push down, get Max/min soft keys) but Yellow:  no change at all in the soft keys.  I can still dial it up or down...

'Framed parameter' -does that mean color wheel?  I've only tried CMY fixtures...

I have tried several fixture types (VL 1000TSD and Elation 575E) and both behave the same.

Next pass I'll try other options (shutters or ?) to see if the behavior is repeated with other attributes on that third encoder...

    I'll keep you posted.

  • To add:  I'm suspicious of the hardware.  In paging through 'shutter' 'beam' etc I get the same lack of options when depressed.  I'll ask Hessler about diagnosing that, have some USB issues also.

Yes...that does sound very much like a hardware problem.  If you call our tech services department, they can help you through some tests to see if it is indeed a hardware problem, and hopefully we can get that repaired for you in short order.
