Diary...Tomorrow ION arrives Strand 520i must leave...

You will largely benefit of the upgrade from 520i to Ion. However, the three "post script" statements make me ask why you chose the Ion over a desk like the Congo (or Congo Junior), GrandMA or the many other desks available.

What kind of venue do you work in?

"Flash+Solo" for subs and "Macros on buttons" tells me you work in a very much impromptu-live venue. I'm not sure what you mean "cutting a running a cue". Do you mean stopping, pausing, cancelling, (...)?

Hi Markus.  Macros can be placed on direct selects (Ion has a small footprint and there was no space for dedicated macro buttons).  You can cut a cue by holding down timing disable + go.

Guten Abend @all (it`s german language),

ION arrived...

The guy from the lightboardsellingcompany installed the ION,2 Touchscreen,a 2x20 Faderwing (everything original verpackt),

The first thing he showed us how to start the ION (this button on the left top)

The second thing he showed us was how to shuttdown the board.

The next thing we`ve learned was (after starting the board new) how to make a screenshot from the errormassage,how to save the logfile onto an USB Stick,and where we should mail it...

Today,30.04.2011/20:51 - ION and me became not friends.

(We will,I know)

btw The guy from the lightboardsellingcompany was totally super with his support ,

specially because his face changed in one of my favourite colours,

Immerhin hat er sich für sein Gesicht eine Deiner Lieblingsfarben ausgesucht ;-) Natürlich hoffe ich, dass Du bald auch positivere Erlebnisse haben wirst als den heutigen Tag. Zum Thema Solo läuft grad eine Diskussion im Forum: http://community.etcconnect.com/forums/t/7586.aspx . Da findest Du einen kleinen Workaround, ausserdem sind aber auch dessen Nachteile erwähnt.

Der Tausch ist eine gute Entscheidung. Meine 530 ist auch ersetzt. Schau die doch mal die videos auf der DVD oder Youtube an. Helfen gut beim Erstkontakt.

a short massage after 2 weeks checking the ION,

ION and me are falling in love together....

...but as you can imagine a lot of unexpected things happened...

A "Go to Cue Out" brought all our 5K Dimmers up,

it takes me a lot of time to understand why...

how much time will you need to find a solution?

For a timecode show that I`ll need to do on Thursday I`ll ask the soundtechs for a midi cable,

but they wanted to see why...

...so I`ve made a dummy show with a lot of cues and "Sub-Flashes",

but only the cues work...

...Soundtechs makes a lot of jokes about me...

...I don`t like that.

I am happy that your relationship with Ion is blooming.

Go to Cue Out - Drives all parameters to home value. Is it possible that you have your 5kWs with a home value above 0%? Does this happen everytime you press "Go to Cue Out" ?

When Ion receives a command from a MIDI source, it will look for and support the following MIDI

commands in the following ways:

• Go Runs a cue
• Stop Pauses a cue
• Resume Resumes a paused cue
• Set Controls a submaster, playback, or grandmaster
• Fire Runs a macro

The "Set" command allows MSC to control potentiometers using both a numeric control number

(which specifies the potentiometer) and a data field (which controls the level: 0-100). Control values

are as follows:

Control                                                 Value Indication

128                                                        Primary playback in

129                                                        Primary playback out

510                                                        Grandmaster

Accompanying any of these indications in the MSC data, a numeric value of 0-100 would set the

specified potentiometer to that level.

All other control values are ignored.

If you post a copy of your showfile here, we can look into to see what's happening.

In one venue I work in, we also replaced our Strand 520i with an Ion. Great switch, although we didn't get touchscreens, just regular LCD flatscreens, and we only got the 1x10 fader wing.

GREAT UPGRADE! Glad you're experiencing this same excitement! Let me know if you need assistance translating Strand 520i language into ETC Ion language.
