Permission to make copies of manuals

Hi ETC.

Looking forward to (and in anticipation of) the release of 2.0, AND the new manual, I discussed the copying of the manual with the University's Xerox copy centre.

They require permission of the copyright holder to make duplicates, including manuals.  Seeing as how I need multiple copies, and at 300+ pages this gets expensive (even at bulk rates), I need to go through them.

Could you please either send me, or post on the download page, a letter approving of copies to be made of the manuals, documents, etc, for the sole use of ETC owners, creating no revenue . . . yadda yadda yadda.

Thanks.  That will help greatly.

  • Andrew,

I believe that ETC already includes this permission- in the EOS 1.7 manual it is on page "b" (second page of the PDF):

"ETC permits the reproduction of materials in this manual only for non-commercial purposes.
All other rights are reserved by ETC."

I imagine there will be a similar statement in the 2.0 manual.  Hopefully that will satisfy the copy center.

  • Brilliant.  Thanks.  I'll fly that by them and see what happens.

  • Hi Andrew,

We've been working those statements into manuals for the last several years just for that reason. If they still need something more formal (rare, but possible), email or call into ETC Tech Services or our Tech Comm group and we'll write you a short statement saying you can copy our manuals for non-commercial purposes.

Or you can email me directly: steve.traut_at_etcconnect.com.

Glad to see you using our manuals and that others are reading them too.

    Thanks.

    -Steve
