Programming Catalyst on an Eos

Hello All,

I was wondering if any of you have encountered a similar hurdle that I am currently trying to get myself over!

We've just received training on our new Catalyst system with a basic run down in the programming of it on the Eos. The main problem that I have found is that the fixture personality for Catalyst 4 is well, putting it nicely, not very user friendly - all the encoders are very out of place and it's very hard to work your way around it.

Has anyone managed to find a way round this, i.e. created a new fixture personality that is more user friendly?

I would be very grateful if anyone can help me out at all with this!

Thanks all in advance,

B

  • Hi Ben,

I've been playing around with this quite a lot recently. I have found it easiest to open a Virtual ML Controls section above the CIA.

This made it very quick to get to all the different play, effect and colour modes.

I know the National Theatre tried to programme Cat through Eos recently and struggled a little. I have a feeling ETC are currently addressing a few comments from them so hopefully it will become a little easier in the future.

I was thinking about sitting down and writing a few macros, storing a load of presets and setting up some snapshots for use with Cat at some point. That could be a useful thing to do for you for the time being?

    Cheers,
