Mark Cue Question

I have movers strobing in cue 2. In cue 1, a mark appears and includes the strobe in cue 2. Even at  0 the lights strobe. Is there away to take the Mark of cue out of strobe in cue 1?

  • The simplest way to stop this, is to set an intensity of 01 on the light with the strobing stopped in the previous cue and allow the mark to happen for this, and then to have the main cue snap in strobe and intensity parameters.

    Hope that helps.

    Warren.

  • I am going to assume 'automark' is enabled.

    In Blind. Select Cue 2. Then select the strobe channels, and press the soft-key {Automark off}.

    [Blind] [Cue] [2] [Enter]

    [x] [thru] [y] [Enter]  (Strobe Channels)

    {automark off}

  • Hi Jimmy

    What is the fixture that you are using? I have just done a show with VL3500 Spots and we used some strobing effects. The units didn't strobe while in a Marking state. I'm assuming this is a unit with a strobing mechanism that is separate to the intensity dimmer. Any further information you can give will help.

  • We are using mini-scans. They have a strobe/shutter parameter. In that parameter in Cue 1, it reads cue 2.

    We disabled auto-mark after the fact in cue 1 since lights are at home. Cue 2 is a bally-strobe starting from home.

  • Hello again Jimmy

    Unless I'm mistaken then I believe the Clay Paky Mini-Scans use the same channel for Strobe as they do for intensity. I have had a little look in my console and it appears that the the ETC fixture personality only lists intensity parameter attached to DMX channel 4 but when I patch one I have a Shutter Strobe attribute all the same. So my conclusion in that ETC have given all the functions of the unit their own parameters on the console so you can set values for them directly from the keypad and have then created a virtual intensity parameter that appears to be separate from the strobe param but is in fact talking to the same DMX channel.

    This being the case when you set the strobe attribute and record your preset and mark from the top of the show the unit will still strobe even tho the intensity is @ 0 because the intensity and strobe params are virtual channels and talking to the same DMX channel on the unit.

    The only way to rectify this is to follow the instructions Warren posted earlier and Snap the strobe channel in using a separate Part.

    Hope that clears things up a little.

    Sabr
