FX should be step based.

Step 1 ch 140-143 (or all red)

Step 2 ch 150-153 (or all Green)

Step 3 ch 160-163 (or all blue)

after that it is just playing with timing.

  You could also build Intensity pallets with mixed colors you've set.  Then you would create an absolute effect.  Your value would be the i-Pallet.

Yet another option, assuming your cyc is RGB (or even if it isn't but using the color picker would produce misleading results).

• Patch each 3-cyc cell as an LED_RGB fixture.
• Set up by_type color palettes for each individual color (or any combination of colors)
• Record an absolute effect using the color palettes

You can use Fan and the effects editor to do a linear sweep, sweeps from center to middle middle to center, striping, or whatever.
