By IP, do you mean intensity palette or internet protocol?
Ion & Eos can receive ACN String EPI and UDP serial string. Configuration is documented in the v1.9.5 Supplement and is done via the Show Control settings. The strings themselves are documented in the v1.7 Operations Manual under "Serial Commands". I have had some success trying it with the offline client but not all string commands behaved as I expected. It's probably my fault for missing something in the documentation.
You can do UDP triggers, so to speak. See the document above - it is the serial commands (using an IO Gateway) but the same rules apply to sending serial strings via UDP to the designated IP address/port in the setup screen.
