LAN problem?

Anyone have this one figured out already? I have been running my school-owned PC as a client/offline for our Ion with all current software. Sysops just gave me a new laptop and suddenly I can't log onto the school network once EOS Offline is installed. The computer can't see the "tree" or networked drives. We uninstalled the ETC software and it ran fine; did it twice.

So, with a rookie system admin, can I steer him in the right direction?

Maybe they've got some sort of firewall that treats the UDP multicasts as an attack and shuts down your IP address?

Some endpoint security/management systems (Cisco comes to mind) enforce a policy on installed programs and services. If a machine doesn't meet the policy, it is quarantined from the network, as it assumes the machine has been compromised. It has nothing to do with a malware or virus signature. Often the policies are set to match the standard distributed machine image for desktops or laptops in an enterprise/university/large place environment.

So, if he/she can add an exception for your machine, likely it will work. That is, if this is truly the issue.
