Deactivating the Fan function

When I'm using the FAN function, is there a way to then disable the function without having to re-select the fixtures?  I would expect to see a soft key labeled "OFF" or "DISABLE" for such a function, but none exists.

For example, I'm using FAN to spread the pan values on a line of fixtures: 1 THRU 5 FAN ENTER, <PAN ENCODER>.  Then, to tilt them all together, I have to use [SELECT LAST], correct?  Or is there a more elegant way to do this?

  • Ive mentioned this before but I really believe the fan button should be toggle on and off when you hold the button down and let go.

    Such as.....

Hold the button down and fan your pan and / or tilt without another set of key strokes to adjust another parameter.  Often times your bouncing back and forth

to make minor adjustments between the to.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • I agree that should be an easier way to toggle "Fan" on the CL.  Anne, how about if [Fan] were an auto executing button press? So hitting [Fan] would terminate the CL, and hitting [Fan] again would remove it but keep the channel selection (terminated) on the CL?

I realize there would be an issue with the softkeys, so perhaps they could be auto executing as well? Meaning if I type:

[Group] x [Fan], it would terminate the CL, then if I hit {Center}, it would just add that to the CL (so it would read: Group x Fan Center *) and hitting [Fan] again would leave CL as reading: Group x *.

Jim and Justin, 99.9% of the time I want to "fan center" just the pan, so I have a macro that reads:

    {Pan} [Fan] {Center} [Enter]

So that pan is the only thing affected by the fan, so if I then tweak the tilt, they all tilt together. This has been a big time saver for me, if that helps.

  • Marc,

Great tip about specifying the parameter before the Fan command.  That macro idea will likely save me some time too.
