Background: we are a community based theatre - all our staff are volunteers, so we have to work with a substantial number of novice users and to make matters worse, we may have periods when some of us are not touching the lighting boards, so we have less chance to keep things in our memories.
We have just got a nice shiny new Ion board (plus a 1x20 fader wing and two monitors - one touchscreen). The previous board was a Strand GSX. The lighting rig is all basic dimmers - the only current DMX connected kit is a smoke machine and a pair of UV panels. We are not anticipating adding any more sophisticated kit to that in the next year.
We are starting to put together our own training materials - yes I know about the Tea Break Tutorials and the cheat sheet (first action is to produce a stripped down cheat sheet). We are aiming to keep the training materials relatively restricted in range - for example we don't need to touch moving head equipment at all currently - we just want to cover our day to day basics in our materials and then use the main manuals and tutorials for anything outside that.
I would appreciate it if anyone has produced basic in house training/documentation that they could share, especially if we can lovingly rip them off.
Once we have some material I would be quite happy to make this available to people.
Additionally we sometimes have the case when non-backstage staff have to put some stage lights on - this would generally be one of a small number of basic states. Is there a way I can just set up a few touch screen buttons that run a standard cue - ie cross-fade to a state - with no other interaction needed?
Nigel.
