u could make an Inhibitive Sub with all channels except those work light channels, and leave that sub always up, and when you go

to lunch bring that inhibitive sub down, and sub 1 up.

Individual channels can be patched as Independant of the GM.  Not a submaster function, but a selective function for each channel.

Another option if you don't need to control your worklights from another source is to set the sub to Priority - Shielded. This means channels in this sub are only controlled by the sub and cannot be overridden by any other means, including the Grand Master.

Shielded subs came in with 1.9.6, so you'll need to make sure your software is up to date.

 

EDIT: Re-reading your post I see that you use these channels elswhere, so one of the other suggestions is probably better in your case!

And then turn it into a macro so you don't even need the physical faders cluttering up your layout.
