ION offline vs visualization

Anyone know if it's possible to run ION offline editor AND a visualization such as Capture on the same Windows XP computer in order to be able to view whats being done offline?

  • Found it searching this site.  For those who don't know go to the Network settings and check the box to allow offline output.

Only problem I am having in Capture Polar Windows 7 is the show keeps flashing all lights at random or it will move movers I have on away then back on it's own.  Hummmm.

  • Hi Jeff

The OLE 'offline output' will flash all 'lights' in your rig to Full periodically (about every minute or so I think) as a protection to stop it being used as a live output software. It is only intended for use in pre-viz situations, not to run your show, as obviously that's why there's the consoles! So, as long as you can put up with a rig flash every so often, happy days in pre-viz land! Otherwise, it's wheel your console out and hook it up to your preferred visualisation software.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • Yes thanks for the info.  I just wanted to know if there was something wrong with my software or Capture.  No problem.  I'm only using it to pre-set up my new ION that's coming.  Using is as a console would prove to be quite the show ehhhhh :-)

Of course today it won't output to Capture, so back to the drawing board.  Have everything set for automatic because not quite sure what it would be looking for being on the same computer.  Worked yesterday.  Computers!!!!!!!!

  • Jeff make sure you are connected to an active network. Ion Offline and Capture cannot speak directly to each other so you need a network for control to bounce back to the computer for Capture to read.
