direct selects on subs?

hi all,

i'm running an ion with a single monitor and a 1x20 wing in a very small booth. obviously a single monitor set up on an ion is crammed with information.

my question is about direct selects, and finding another place to put them other than trying to fit virtual controls onto the screen. i'm curious if there is a way to assign direct selects (or the things i would put on a direct select like a macro or palette) to a fader on my 1x20 wing? i want something physical i can push to save time and space.

what i'd really love would be to have a usb direct select module. kind of like a usb num pad. or how about an add on to the irfr app so my iphone can sit next to my board and be my direct select bank.

otherwise any tips on saving space?

thanks!

steve

  • Steve,

In regards to a usb direct select module, this might be what you are looking for...

You have to order it a certain way, which is escaping me at the moment, but this allows you to have 16 "hard keys" that can be anything you want.  There are other versions from PI, but this one fits nicely at the top of the console on the flat portion, can even line up to 4 I believe.

I will try to find the memory resident ordering instructions, they are on a forum page or wiki page somewhere...

  • I've heard of good results (I have no firsthand experience) with Cherry POS keyboards. One advantage is that you have both a keyboard and some programmable buttons:
