Patching pixel mapping

My question is confusing me. I have LED strips already patched in my show that I would like to use pixel mapping on. I have setup a pixel map with server channel 429 and layers 430 and 431. My confusion starts when I go to actually patch this in the desk. My LED starips are channel 401-428 with DMX 380-463. When I patch the server channel 429 what do I patch it to? Also the layer channels 430 and 431 get patched to?? I just cant figure this out. I have attached a picture of my patch. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Chris you aren't actually patching the Server or Layers to anything...I am posting more, just wanted to throw that out first...

  • You are actually going into the pixelmapping screen. (Its a softkey).  Select your pixel map, or create it.  Assign the server channels and layer channels...

Width and Height it looks like you are going to want a 3x3, if not select whatever you want as your fixture layout, maybe 1x9 just depends on your configuration.  Click/hit S6 which is EDIT.  Now use your mouse and select the grid up above. On the other monitor select which fixture manufacturer and type that you have.  Over to the right of that screen you will have a dmx address.  You will want to start with 437.  **A special note here, the order you select the tiles in the grid and the Z orientation below/right of the address box determines the order of the fixtures.**

Now you should have red boxes surrounding your grid work, you might need to zoom in to see the address information.  These should now match your fixture patch in the "normal patch" window.  **This is the first time you can actually patch a fixture "twice"**

Now go to live and start playing with your server and layers...

Hope this gets you going, as always call ETC ask for tech support, they can push buttons right along with you if you need help.

  • You are the best! Thanks works great. I was over thinking the patch!
