Ion with 2 x 10 fader wing mapping question

Happy Sunday All,

So I'm not sure if I'm having a console specific issue, or an operator (me) issue.

What is the proper behavior for mapping subs to pages on a 2 x 10 wing on an Ion.

In Fader Config I tell page 1 to be subs 1-10. Page 2 subs 21-30, and so on for a couple of pages.

No on the wing when I'm on page 1, the top row of subs shows 1-10 and the bottom row shows subs 11-20. When I hold down Fader Controls and change to Page 2 on the wing, the top row now shows subs 11-20 and the bottom row shows 21-30.

Is that right? Is that how its always been? My memory seems to think that it used to be page 2 would bring you to the next set of subs that wasn't already shown on your wing, not bring the page selected to the top of your wing.

This way makes sense so the page numbers on the wing match the page numbers in Fader Config, but I'm just making sure. So on a 2 x 10 wing, if you want to jump a full wings worth of subs, you need to load Page 1, 3, 5, 7 etc? If it were a 2 x 20 I assumed it would be pages 1, 5, 9...

I'm just making sure that I'm doing the right thing and not losing my mind.

Thanks for any insight!

  • Ben, back a very long time ago, the paging was set to match the actual number of faders that you had.  But many people found this completely confusing, because the paging in live had no reference to the fader config tool.   I forget how long ago this changed, but it has worked in the current style for quite a while.

BTW, you do know that there is a faster way to do this?  Create your subs in blind if needed (Blind.  Sub 1 thru thru 300 enter).  Go to live.  Press Sub 1 thru enter (selects all of your subs).  Press the load buttons (double hit both buttons associated with the fader) for the first location to be mapped.

    hope that helps!

  • Thanks Anne,

I figured it was me, but was just checking...

Also thanks for the reminder on the Loading of the subs. I totally forgot about that.
