RFR trouble, at wit's end.

So our RFRs have never worked properly - exhibiting the low-battery constant reboot cycle since day one. I have stopped using the internal charger completely and use my nice MAHA 8-bay chargers instead. The remote is now completely useless, lasting 10 minutes before dropping into the cycle, whatever batteries I use. It's going in for repair for the last time before I pack both RFRs up and ask for my money back so I can buy two iPads. Is anyone using their RFR successfully? How?

what firmware version is displayed on display at power up?

It is currently 2.00, it has been 2.07 and 2.011 before. It's been in the factory once getting beta software, and it worked for a month before dropping back into the cycle.

replace the chargeable batteries inside, and update hanheld to v2.0.8 and the base to v2.0.4 and all should be well!

I replace the rechargeable batteries every time they run down. I can't trust the internal charging circuit. I have 8 different 2700mah MAHA NiMH batteries I cycle through two at a time in the RFR.

I'll do what you suggest on the other unit that goes into service tomorrow. The space we are in now starts tech today and we're using the iPod Touch I bought for a different theatre instead of the RFR. Honestly, I've heard "all should be well" so many times I simply don't believe it.
