Feature Request: Emergency Shutdown...

It would be nice (in ION world, at least) if there was some way to gracefully shut down the ION when it has been powered up without it's monitors plugged in and powered up....especillay the DVI's which don't wake up after the fact.

Currently, all you can do is hold the power button down until it dies.

It would be nice to be able to hold down some key-combination and maybe get an advisory in the LCD that could walk you through a graceful shutdown. This also needs to work when the application is not running.

How about you hit [live][blind][display] together 3 times in a row, and then it briefly tells you in the LCD to type in some shutdown code, such as [4][1][1][6] to shutdown or it clears in 10 secs.

Just a thought....

only guessing here put pulling the power or using the "ON" button are probably both a bad idea as the console is a computer.

can't you just do the following. if you have just booted up.

[Displays] [Page down arrow] [Page down arrow] [select] [select]

i do belive that would work as that's the key stokes i use to shut down my console every day.

if by chance you are in one of the other selections like the file list, then use the [Page left] mabye 15 times first.

Only if the application has launched. If the ION is set to start with the menu, then I believe you can only shutdown via mouse click or tabbing to the shutdown button. In any case, an awful lot of blind keystrokes that all dependent on knowing your starting point
