RVI Views

In my quest to have the information that I want displayed on the screen at the appropriate time, I've spent the last few hours figuring out more QWERTY functions and how to manipulate the data on live screens to show me what various attributes are doing.

 Here's the "list" of questions/comments/concerns:

1)  In the Table Packed Display, I want to be able to collapse/expand FOCUS/COLOR/BEAM attributes.  Also, I want to be able to expand the color attributes, and only see the attributes needed by that fixture.  For example: I don't need the HSI info for a unit with a scroller, and I don't want it there, especially when the unit is a Revolution or Autoyoke with only a scroller.  The same goes for beam and focus.  I like being able to get rid of the Mspeed, or any other attribute that I don't care about, its just that I don't want to see attributes that don't exist for that particular fixture.  I understand why you need them in Table view just to keep the columns lined up, but table packed should only display the attributes that exist for that particular fixture.

2)  I need the page keys on the console to effect the views on my rvi.  As an assistant, I want my own rvi as a different user and control of my own screens, and as a designer, I want an rvi on the same user as the LBO so that I don't have to take my eyes off the bright stage to find the appropriate page buttons on the dark keyboard on the dark tech table.

 3)  Related to the above, it would be great if while creating a step based effect, the info in the CIA (effect steps, elements, etc) was on the Live screen, and the effects list replaced the cue list.  This way, as the designer, I don't have to give up screen real estate to the CIA, and I can see what I'm doing without hitting any extra buttons locally.

 4) There are times when my live and live table displays don't display the same information because of extraneous attributes.  I have scroller channels that have under color a Brightness category.  I'm not sure why this is there, because it seems like extraneous HSI information, but one result is that it is screwing up my displays.  In live, the color is showing blue becuase the brightness is fading up (linked to the intensity perhaps? We certainly didn't change it manually) but in Table Packed I can see that indeed the scroll is magenta.  This obviously makes things difficult because it looks like I have a live move until I switch formats and confirm.  This makes it even more difficult because of course I've turned off looking at the brightness part of color in table and had to go looking for it.

  • 5) I'm currently switching between LIVE TABLE PACKED and BLIND TABLE PACKED with a qwerty plugged into my RVI.  Whats very frustrating is every time I switch from one to the other and back the page display is not where I left it.  The two either need to ALWAYS line up, so when I hit blind the same channel page shows up as what I was looking at live, or to stay where I put them last, so that I can switch between two things and quickly see what I'm doing.

Right now I navigate to a channel live, hit blind and navigate to the same channel, then go back to live and the page has moved.

    To be updated later....

Little by little, everything to make editing as FAST as possible.  Should mention that current setup is: EOS and Main Processor as User 1; RVI as User 2

  • Our Design Assistant is using A PC with Client software and X-Keys to muck about. He is set to user 1. He uses Xkeys to expand/contract his CIA. I also have him Tab # to look at whatever it is I'm doing if he wants it.

It seems like an RVI set to User 1 (traditional Obsession style Tech Table Monitors) and a Client Set to User 2 so you could look at the info you want. This seems like the ideal set up for an assistant to have.

I agree that to much time is spent wasted around in screen navigating.
