Is there any way of opening the ML controls in the ION other than through Virtual in the Browser. The Element has an actual hard key. I'd think there should be a way to access a softkey somehow but can't find anything.

hi jeff.
uhm, i think on an ion you should be able to do most if not all of the ML controlling thru actual functions and buttons of the console without the virtual controls. i think... so is there a specific task you couldn't do with hardware controls or is it just that you're used to having the virtual controls display around?

Jeff,
Assuming you are running a recent version of the console software, open the ML controls as a Tab, not in the CIA, then you will be able to hold [Tab] and press whatever tab number and easily bounce back and forth from the ML control window.
Hope that helps,
Tanks for you input. ML control is much simpler to me to use for movers because it shows actual gobos and colors and it is a quick pick. I can't find any keys on the console to do any of that and again . To use the encoders it's cumbersom rolling around trying to find a particular color name or gobo name, along with other things. The ML controls shows it all and is direct.
Yes opening a tab is what I have been doing but I only found that through Virtual selections. The Element has a ML control hard key. Just wondered if there was any other way.

This will be a bit easier in the upcoming 1.9.8 release, as you will be able nominate the ML controls as your "Favorite", meaning it will be the default display in the CIA. In addition, the keyboard command Alt-F5 will open the ML controls - and this can also be in a Macro.
Win!
ok. thanks
Snapshots are a great way to control what you see.
The "monitors" section holds all the display information including what tabs are open and where.
