ION Channel Check

I am doing a channel check for the first time on my ION to see that all my fixtures are working and I ran into a glitch that isn't shown in the Tutorials.  I have the screen in Active Channels which is blank at this time.  I enter 1 @ Full ChanCheck Enter and 1 comes up full however Next does not take it to 2.  Only 1 works.  When I Flexi to show channels then chan check does go to next next last etc.

Sooo does it need to be in a particular screen to work?  It doesn't say anything about it in the Tea Breaks.

  • Next and last functions are routed through the current flexi state.  That makes it possible to have greater control over what channels you are stepping through.  For your purposes, you are going to want to use Flexi Patched.

Another impact of flexi that you should be aware of is this.  Channel thru ranges are also routed through your flexi state.  As such, if you have channels 1 thru 5 and 15 thru 20 currently visible in your flexi mode, and you enter 1 thru 19, the desk will select channels 1 thru 5 and 15 thru 19 - it will not select channels not currently visible (6 thru 14).  To select channels outside of your flexi state, you can use thru thru.

If you select a channel range that is not visible at all (25 thru 30, for example), the thru thru command  is not required.   But if your collection includes some channels you can see in your flexi state and some you cannot, you'll need to use thru thru to collect them all.

    Hope that helps.

  • I was using a touring show's Ion today (v 1.9.6) and saw some anomalous behavior with [Next] / [Last] and Flexi state:

    • console in Flexi-Patched
    • doing a channel check by using Highlight and [Next]/[Last] to flash though conventionals and moving lights
    • [Next]/[Last] ignored the flexi state, always going to the next or previous numerical channel

I didn't see anything in the 1.9.8 build summary about this and didn't have a chance to try to reproduce on my EOS with 1.9.8.
