This is a tricky one to pin down as it seems to happen when we're very busy plotting and so don't have time to make a note of the desk settings, but -
Every now and then the desk terminates a command line before the operator has finished. For example:
"Chan 22 Record Focus Palette 12 Enter"
The desk will terminate the command (with an Enter) after hitting the Focus Palette button. We can also sense the Pan and Tilt wheels engaging (not moving, just something happening.....). It would be the same effect as selecting a channel and then using an encoder - the command line is terminated with an Enter. It will generally wait about a second or so before terminating - so if you're very quick you can get in first!
It doesn't happen all the time and after a day of programming today it happened just as we broke for the evening meal. We switched the desk on and off and it hasn't happened since - but is that just a coincidence?
But when it does happen it will keep doing it, but only for some circuits or perhaps some commands. As I said we never have the chance to properly analyse it.
I'll call ETC (UK) tomorrow to chat it through, but if anyone has any thoughts now about what we might have missed we'd love to hear them!
