ion 1.9.6 maybe bug???

loaded a cue in sub 1 with a time fade on the sub. hit the button to make the Q active.

while the green LED was flashing i decided i wanted to move  sub 1 to sub 20.

sub 1 move to sub 20. the green led went away on sub 1.

then i went to sub 1 in blind. added channels. ( i did this part during the show) the channels i added automatically came live onstage...  is this normal behavior?

  • Yes, this is normal behavior.  The cue blind buffer is not tied to the live output (so you have to refresh the cue live to see changes made in blind to active cues), but changes made to the sub blind buffer are directly connected to the output.

The sub behavior is largely driven by the needs of the television market who use blind sub as a way to make changes onstage without needing to restore or update.  Those edits are quite deliberate and impact only a single look.

We don't do this with cues because changes upstream of the active cue --- which could result in tracked data modifications to the active cue -- could be disruptive.

  • Thanks Anne, i guess what i was asking is since i moved the sub while active  and the flashing led light went away, how does one know that the sub is still active?

  • Ok.  Well, I'm confused.  If you moved sub 1 to sub 20... how did you add channels to sub 1, since it no longer exists?  Did you create a new sub 1 and then add channels?   I did moving an active sub, adding content to that new sub number and everything seemed fine.

  • Good Morning Anne,

i have recreated this three times..

in sub blind, sub 1 thru thru 20 enter

    Live

    chan. 152 thru 170 @ 30 . record sub 1 time 3/hold/3

    go to cue out

execute sub 1 via time fader

while i have sub 1 LED flashing, i decided to move sub 1  to sub 20

sub 1 move to sub 20 enter

at this point sub 1 stops flashing. so i thought sub 1 was  NOT ACTIVE. wrong

yes sub 1 no longer exists at this point.

blind sub, sub 1 enter, chan. 171-192 @ 50 enter.

as soon as you hit enter the channels come live onstage and the LED for sub 1 starts flashing again .

i hope this makes a bit of sense... my thought on this is that once you move an active sub, you do not know it is still active...

    should i send logs?

originally i did this in the Bomhard theatre. V 1.9.6

this morning i recreated this using the v1.9.8 thanks Anne...
