Submaster questions

Couple of questions regarding submasters ...

First one - say I've got some channels with non-intensity parameters recorded onto a submaster. What I'd like to do is to have the NPs snap to their recorded value when the fader leaves zero, and the intensity fade in according to the fader being raised. That bit's simple - I can set the fader to be an intensity master and that does what I need. Then, I need to happen, as I return the fader to zero, is for it to release all the NPs that it grabbed hold of and return control of them back to the main cue list. I know I can do this by hitting the bump button to 'turn off' the sub, but is there a way to have it release the NPs automatically once the fader gets back down to zero?

Second question is along similar lines, but related to effects on subs. If I've got some channels programmed in a sub to be running an effect, is there a way to get the effect to start and stop when the fader leaves and returns to zero, without having to hit the bump button to start and stop it each time?

Both of these things are easy to accomplish on my little MagicQ PC-based console by setting a 'fader releases stack' option - so I guess I'm looking for something similar on Eos. Does it exist?

  • Hi Gareth

The simple answer to both these questions is no unfortunately.

In the up and coming 1.9.8 you will be able to manually release the sub and this will return the value back to the cue but this is no better then just hitting the bump button again.

As for effects on subs, I'm hoping to spend some time with the Anne and the team early next year and work through these things to make them better in the future.

So at the moment no but hopefully in the future.

Hope your all getting on well with the desk (apart from subs).

  • Hi Nick - nice to hear from you.

Thanks for your response. Shame the console can't do these things, but perhaps it'll come in a future release. It's not a huge problem - just a couple of extra keys to press - but it seems like something which might hopefully be relatively simple to implement as a per-fader option. Just a thought!

We're getting on fine with the desks. The more I use them, the more I find about them that I really like - they're turning out to be a real pleasure to work with.

    Cheers.
