EOS Family locking faders

I could not find anything in the manual.  Is there any way to lock either subs or cue lists onto a fader handle so matter what page the wings are on, that sub or cue list is still at the same location on the wing?  This makes things so much easier when changing pages but needing certain subs or cues in the same position all the time.  I hope so.  Ehhhh.

Also is there any way to configure the wings so that when the next page is selected it actually switches a whole wing rather than just 10 at a time?  I"m running a 2x20 and 2x10 wing so have 60 faders and would like page 2 to go to 61 thru ..... rather than 21 thru .... and so on however still keep those locked subs in the same positions :-)

Doesn't matter but i'm using an ION

  • You can assign subs to more than one fader. So if the faders 1, 11, 21, 31... are all your house lights then you will always have them in the same place. It does eat a lot of faders.

I suggest snapshots for jumping pages. Not only can you have them where and when you want them, but recalling snapshots is a one handed operation.

  • Wouldn't eat up as much if the wings could be configured to jump in assigned increments; or as in my case every page jumps 60.  But I don't yet know if that is possible.  I think the Congo can lock them into positions.

I haven't done anything yet with snapshots so will have to get into that to see how it works and how fade control is applied.

    Thanks,

  • The only problem with snapshots in this situation is they will recall not only the page of faders you are in but all the levels that were set when you recorded the snapshot. The workaround appears to be macros [faderpagepress # faderpagerelease] and just make as many of those as you need just changing the number of the page. This is what I use to bump between pages on the motorized faders section of the EOS hopefully it can help in your situation.

  • Snapshots store fader levels!  ##*@~**

Why! (Shows how little time I spend actually running a console.) Nothing else in a snapshot stores output information does it? Would you save the status of the Live tab or the cue stacks?

IMHO Snapshot should be only about the displays (paging is related) as an organizational tool only.

  • +1 andrewt and RickR.

I agree that snapshots should only recall stuff that affects the displays layout, and not the output. I found out about this one the hard way.

It's not just the fader levels it records, but also the pending cue in any cuestacks, too - which can give you a nasty surprise when you next press go.
