Kindle Fire and Amazon App Store

Is ETC planning on submitting the ARFR app to the Amazon App Store so that Kindle owners can use it?

  • Sorry that was on the beta site. Here is the quote from that thread. It is from Kirk Starks who is a Technical Support Specialist with ETC:

As the device will not actually ship until November 15th, 2011, we have not tested any compatibility with Kindle Fire. Based on the developer documentation provided by Amazon, it is highly unlikely that aRFR will be compatible with Amazon's platform at inital release of the Kindle Fire.

  • Well just to make sure.....

I rooted my kindle fire, and installed the android marketplace. I then purchased the ARFR, and after the usual networking mucking about...

    IT WORKS!!!

You don't even have to keep it rooted. I have since un-rooted so I can still watch amazon prime streaming video, but the Marketplace, AND the ARFR apps still work fine on the fire, and as far as I can tell all of the functions of the ARFR work as advertised, and as a bonus, the screen seems well suited. I detected a very slight (1/8") margin cutoff around the edge, mainly on the left hand side.

I think if ETC wanted to, they could easilly have the app on the Amazon Store.

    So, there it is.
