Pixel Mapping and Media Servers/ Capabilities with PixelFlex LED Curtains

I am currently doing some research into purchasing a Pixelflex Led Curtain (www.ledcurtain.com) and was curious if anyone is currently using one.  Also, I am using the ETC Ion and I'm curious if this console will work with the curtain, or should I upgrade to the Gio, or EOS?  Any input would be much appreciated.  I hope to be able to use the curtain to show video as well as patterns.

Thanks

  • The Eos Family Virtual Media Server is a Pixel-Mapping server that outputs DMX and DMX-Over-Ethernet, so it can directly drive any array (or array of devices) that accept either DMX or a supported DMX-over-Ethernet protocol (eg sACN).

Reading the Pixelflex FAQ, it appears that these LED arrays require a DVI-I input signal and don't accept DMX.

    • What is the input format on the sending unit?
    • It is DVI-I. It can accept 1024X768 or 1280X1024

You'll need a suitable Media Server with a DMX or DMX-over-Ethernet control input and a DVI-I output for these Pixelflex units.

Some common options are Arkaos running on a PC, Catalyst on a Mac, and Hippotizer.
