Secret Agent Board

I've posted something similar before,

But can we have a toggle on the RVI or on the console that allows the board op to control the displays?  Also, the tombstone display on the RVI displays less information than on the console, especially only displaying a C instead of a color pallete (even when all color attributes are at the pallete) in tombstone view.  Also, my movers have their FCB in landscape, instead of portrait like on the console, which means I don't think those could display more than just an F C or B either.

Basically I want the screens to update to what the board op is doing.  If my board op hits effect, an efect list comes up, but if he switches back to live I have to hit Blind then Live on the rvi to get the cuelist back.  The same goes for the CIA, the board op should be able to show or hide the CIA on the RVI from the console.

There are other things that I've run into that the RVI won't tell you, but they're slipping my mind at the present.

The independant control is great for assistants, but the LD needs to know whats going on!

  • Hi David.  1.4 will support mirror functions for the RVI.   There will be two buttons on the front of the RVI (Mirror 1 and Mirror 2).  The person at the RVI will need to call the Mirror mode.  Once in that mode, the displays will change as the programmer's do, and will be in exactly the same format as the programmers

Right now, on the RVI, you have two options (these options will be maintained even after Mirror mode is supported).
If you set the RVI up as a different user than your programmer, the RVI is completely independent.  It can be in whatever mode you need it to be in.
If you set the RVI up as the same user as your programmer, as the programmer changes modes, the RVI changes modes as well.  However, the display formats are maintained.  This allows the design to follow the programmer, but have his displays in whatever format and flexichannel mode work best for him.   So, right now, it sounds like you need to expand the view on the RVI to support the expanded summary mode (params/focus).

Right now, the user ID is setup in the shell.  1.3 adds the ability to set it from Setup, so you don't have to close the app.

    Does this make sense?

  • Makes sense.  In big shows though (or at least shows with lots of channels) the real thing that's been a pain is that the designer can't say "Page" and have the board op flip the screens around.  It sounds like this is coming up for us.  Thanks

I've expanded the view on the table and table packed views to show the attributes, am I able to do that in tombstone view?  Didn't realize that.  I'll give it try when I get to the theatre today.  Thanks.

  • David, Dennis and I have discussed making the expanded channel view (aka tombstone) the default.... because if you don't know its there.... you don't know to look for it.  Seems a safer bet??

  • I would agree.  At my current zoom level and monitor size it also makes the screen a familiar 20x5 channels, which is also nice.

Now that I've expanded, I've also discovered that sometimes in Live I get just a plus sign (even with nothing modified) when in Blind the value shows as CP22 (or whatever color/focus palette/preset).  I realize it will display a plus if all values are not at the pallete or preset, but this doesn't seem to be the case since it is displaying in blind.

  • BTW, we are actually adding a 20x5 display option in 1.3.... so you won't need to worry about setting your zoom level to get it.

We've had reports of this discrepancy between live and blind from others. We believe any issues with this are addressed in 1.3.  Also, in that release, when you are in summary view (either tombstone or table), the following will happen:

If all moved/tracked parameters in a cateogry are in the same palette/preset (even if some parameters are not used and are at default), you will see the palette/preset reference.

If there is only one palette or preset in use in a category (but some of the parameters in that category are at some absolute value), you will see the palette/preset reference with a + in superscript in the upper right.

So the only time you will see a + in summary view is when more than one palette/preset is in use in a category.  Think this will help a lot.

    Make sense??

  • The behavior you are discribing is exactly what I would expect.

    Thanks
