Various 1.9.8 queries

Hello,

I'm sorry but this is an annoyingly long post. The last two shows I've programmed were on a Strand and now that I'm back on Eos with the official 1.9.8 software, my brain's a little confused, so I have some queries! I'm trying to use the new Mark Time function and am confused about the cue FCB timings. I've assigned the mark time to be 7s. So the total duration of a cue is the longest time of the fade, plus 7s. Eg cue 1 has a time of 1s, and it's a mark cue, so the duration is 8s. What then do the FCB timings refer to? They are over-ridden by the mark time from setup, right? Unless there's a live move in the cue? So do I just ignore those values if there's no live moves? I'm confused, sorry.

Next up is effects. This probably (?) isn't a new thing but I have multiple effects running on some channels and I want to stop just one of them. In Live, this is [Effect] 5 [stop effect] [enter], yes? How do I do this in Blind please, why does the same syntax not work? (Sorry if the answer to this is in the manual, am being lazy).

I have an exclusive sub controlling haze. The haze is a fixture with an intensity and a blower parameter. When I record cues with the sub up, the blower parameter is recorded in. Is this a bug?

In Blind spreadsheet, I've been trying to use Flexi View Chans, but it won't let me see the channels I select. It works if I start off in table or channel view though. Then when I format into spreadsheet, I can see the channels ok.

And finally..! The PSD monitor resets it's column widths after exiting to shell or on power up. Is anyone else seeing this?

Sorry to splurge many things at once, in the middle of teching.

Many thanks,

Jane

  • Hi Jane,

As far as Mark Time is concerned, as you guessed if you have Mark Time enabled that value will be used and it overrides the cue FCB times for marking units. If there are units moving live they will use the cue FCB times. I'm not entirely happy about the current display here as you could just have a unit marking using the Mark Time, yet the cue list suggests something is using the cue FCB times, with no other indication otherwise.

There are a few remaining issues with flexi I've noticed, where often you have to do a full cycle through to the desired view before it displays correctly, sounds like this may be an example of this.

Stop Effect is a playback command, so it'll only work in Live. You'll need to use {Channel Selection} [Effect] [At] [Enter] to remove an effect in blind (this also works in live). I'm pretty sure you can also add an effect number in there as with [Stop Effect], not near a console to check though.

    Hope that's of some help!

    Cheers

  • Hi thanks for your replies. I think the mark time PSD display thing is now "on the list".

Flexi stuff, yes Luke suggested I use Page Left after selecting View Chans, which works as a (hopefully temporary) fix.

Effects, I'm still confused about. Chan [effect] [at] [enter] worked last week on the console but now trying it again offline it doesn't seem to do the same thing.

Jon - it was an exclusive sub, not inhibitive, and there's some more weirdness there but we'll see what happens!

    Thanks,

    Jane
