ETC iPhone App Issue

I'm trying to connect my iPhone to an Ion Console. The app sees the console, says it's connected, but when you hit the connect button, it says it isn't connected.

Any tricks/ideas?

  • Check to make sure that you have the correct password for the console.
The password is the name of the console which can be found by pressing [About] with an empty command line.

Also make sure that you have allowed iRFR/aRFRs. Exit to the shell (Exit Ion in the Browser), click the RFR button on the bottom of the right list of buttons and make sure that the check box is checked to allow the iRFR.

The status bar that you are seeing that shows a connection to the console is a simple network test purely telling you that the app sees a console on the network.  It doesn't know if you can actually log into that console.

  • I'm having trouble connecting more than one device (iphone/itouch). At the moment I have our itouch working just fine but I run out of battery fairly quickly and usually want to move onto my iphone but it seems I can't seem to get more than one idevice connected to the network. I presume this is because of my router setup. I'm not too good with networking, could anyone point me in the right direction.

p.s (on a slightly similar subject, talking about network stuff) I also want to be running my mac as a client eventually, do i have to set it up as a static ip every time i wanna connect it?

  • Hi Sammy,

There could be any number of places to look to troubleshoot your iDevices. I assume as you've already got one device working you've probably seen the iRFR wiki here?

You might also want to have a look at Tracy Fitch's post here which explains a little about router setup. Different routers have different settings, but the factory defaults are generally a good place to start.

To connect your Mac without having to change it's Static IP all the time you just need to have an Address Server (DHCP) running on the network. Usually I would make this the Primary console. Then the Mac will be given an IP in the correct range. (Assuming it's network interface is set to DHCP)
