Keystroke versus Direct Select

On an Ion running 1.9.8 with dual touch screens

Ran into this odd behavior.

When calling up channels to an intensity via keypad:

"1, Full, Enter",   Ch 1 goes to full.

"2, At, 5, Enter",   Ch 2 goes to 50%, 1 stays at Full

When using the channel buttons on the Direct Select screens (as opposed to the tiles/tombstones)

Press, Ch 1 on the Direct Select screen, then At, Full, Enter.   Ch 1 is at Full.

Press Ch 2 on the Direct Select screen.  Ch1 is still high-lighted in gold, thus will follow the command I want to give to Ch 2, which is @ 50%.  I have to first press Clear to clear the gold highlight of Ch 1 before pressing the screen for Ch 2

Why does it do this ?.  Shouldn't the Direct Select action replicate the keystroke action and clear the gold highlight and de-select the channel upon pressing Enter ?,.

Current setup makes using the Channel buttons in the Direct Select screens somewhat useless.

Note 2 reasons for using the channel buttons in DS.  1) I can label them in patch, thus can have "R16 Fnt Pit" or whatever.  2) In a Direct Select I have better control on placement into the lower seciton of the screen, eliminating arm fatigue reaching higher onto the screen.
