Library Mac and Elation Issues

So, I am patching a show with a bunch of LED Macs and Elations.

For the Macs, I can't seem to find the Mac 350 gobo wheel. We have them on rental and they are templated with a standard wheel.

The wheel is:

Jessica Rose P/N 43070098

Cathedral Spikes P/N 43072008

Galaxy Breakup P/N 43072009

Fabrick P/N 43072010

Dipple P/N 43072011

and

Blue Ripple 43086054

Any idea where I can find this? I was trying to build it myself, but it appears that many of these gobs aren't even in with the Martin Templates....

Also, we are using some Elation 108 LED Pars in the show. I wasn't able to find them in the fixture library, but made a working profile for the 9ch version. Complicated fixture build because of the color macro ranges, as well as the internal programs and the shutter strobe settings. It would be nice if these units made it into the fixture library.

Best.

  • Hey Alex.  If you patch a Mac350 , the default gobo wheel load is Martin Wheel 17 - which has exactly the gobos you've listed.  So, I'm not quite sure what the issue is?

Just to confirm the Elation fixture.  Is this the device?  http://www.elationlighting.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemNumber=1510&Category=ZDiscontinued&txtSearch=Design%20LED

It does not appear to have a 9 channel mode?

    thanks much!

Here is the unit we were trying to find a profile for:

    http://www.elationlighting.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemNumber=1670&MainId=1&Category=LED%20Lighting

It is the Elar 108 Par RGBW.

Also, the Martin Gobo Wheel 17 is not appearing in my Gobo Select options. And it was not autoselected when I patched the fixture.

    Thanks!

  • Also, as a follow-up question -- we have some Mac Aura Ext as well as some similar fixtures in the show. It seems like with these fixtures I cannot hit a color, like red for example, and then out and have the fixture respond. I have to hit {red}@ 0, Enter to get red to go out. I don't have to do this with our VLs. Is this a setting I can change in the fixture editor? How would I go about doing that? Making other NiPs respond to {out}?

    Thanks!

  • Hey Alex.  Will add the Elation fixture you are looking for to the library list.  Should be able to get this done shortly.

Regarding the Mac 350.  What software version are you running?   If 1.9.8, can you patch another Martin unit (lets say a 2K profile) and tell me if the device is coming up with the correct default wheel?  If not 1.9.8, can you upgrade to 1.9.8 and advise if the issue persists?  Also, in a data gathering mode, what console are you using?  Is this is multi-console system?  If so, are you seeing this on all of the devices?

When working with NPs, the Out command sets to the default value for the parameter, which is generally 100 for LEDs, while 0 sets to zero.  This is effectively the same as homing the parameter and is expected behavior.  Is this what you are seeing?  Yes, you can change it.  The easiest, fastest way to to write a preset for those devices that sets the color parameters to zero, and then assign that preset as your home preset.  You can also change the defaults for the fixture by copying the library item to a custom fixture and changing the defaults.  Setting the home preset is the most simple way to do it

    thanks much!

Just patched at Mac 2000 Profile 16B. It came up with a Martin Gobo Wheel 37 as it's Gobo Select. I am running 1.9.8. I'm not sure what you mean about data gathering mode, but we are running an Eos with an RPU, and occaisionally an RVI. And I am still not seeing the Martin Gobo Wheel 17 as an option.

I get what you're saying about the Out command and that makes total sense. It's like going to Cue Out. Thanks!

  • Hey Alex.  On more research, the issue with the Mac 350 gobo wheel is specific to 1.9.8.  We have a couple of choices.  We can ask you to go to 1.9.9 beta, or you can hold out for a week for the 1.9.9 released software.  Please advise what you'd like to do.

    Thanks for your patience.

Can you send me the 1.9.9 Beta Software so that I have that for the morning? We will need to speak with our designer about using the beta software, as it is a very quick tech process and we don't have the time to be dealing with troubleshooting. But if he's game, I'm still a little tight in time to get it loaded. We focus on Friday, and start tech Saturday. So if we were to use the 1.9.9 software, I'd need to get it loaded onto the EOS, RPU, and RVI tomorrow, as well as attend a run, and finish ring out. I'll let you know what we decide in the AM. No way we could just get a version of the Martin Wheel built for the 1.9.8 software? Thanks for all your help and attention to this.

    Best.
