So after the success of getting the Eos Family Client going on my laptop (thanks technical support) and having a couple of hours spare last night. I wrote a little applescript.
What does it do?
It's essentially a labeling application - When run it will take you through 3-4 questions and from the answers will label your preset/palettes on the Eos Family Application as well as using the answers and putting them into an excel spread sheet in the correct sheet and row.
Instructions:
1. Open “Eos Family” Application
The application works both when working in Client Mode or Offline Editor but just make sure everything is synced up before using the labeling application.
2. Open “Excel” Workbook Application
The application writes to the active excel workbook, so just be aware if you have more than one excel workbook open. Also be aware that the application writes to Column A for the name of the preset/palette and to Column B for the label you give and needs to have Sheets “Presets”, “Focus Palettes”, “Color Palettes”, “Beam Palettes”. The application uses the preset/palette number as the row number. You are perfectly able to use any other columns and add sheets as you see fit.
3. Once Both “Eos Family” and “Excel” are open:
You can use the program to your hearts content. This can be done either by double pressing the application or if you have a beautiful application called Quicksilver from http://www.blacktree.com/ then you can assign the application to a hot key.
Within the zipped file hopefully attached to this post you will find:
The application - Sammys Labeling.app
An Excel workbook - Current Show.xlsx - to help you get started
An Excel workbook - Blank Labeling.xlsx. - incase you need one
The Applescript - You can open this using apple editor, please feel free to take a look/change/judge the script. Do let me know if you have any critism in the programming technique.
Let me know if I've done anything stupid. I only learnt applescript the other night so I'm still learning. I hope this might be useful to some of you. I thought it could be used quite nicely by the lighting designer... let me know what you think.
