ION client cannot synchronize

Question

I have installed 1.9.8 on my Ion and the 1.9.8 client on a laptop running W7 64 bit. When I try to connect the laptop to the Ion, I get a Synchronizing Failed message repeatedly. If I abort, then a message shows that says "Client Not Queuing Commands". 
 Both the Ion and the laptop are on our church internal network connected to the same switch. I have DHCP disabled on the Ion and am specifying the IP address and subnet mask on the laptop and the connection is by wire, not wireless. 
 This configuration has always worked on all previous releases. The only other difference is that this is the first attempt to connect using W7. 
 How do I correct this error?

Hi Dale, 
 What are the IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways on the Ion and your computer set to? 
 Also, did you encounter any firewall messages when first launching the Eos application? Try disabling the firewall temporarily and see if that helps as well.
