Modifying selections returned by [Query]

I'm really liking the Query function to be able to select fixtures based on what palettes they're in, but I'm having trouble being able to modify that selection once I've got it selected. I've been able to get it to work a couple of times, but not repeatedly.

[Chan] [91] [Thru] [100] [Query] [Color Palette] [33] [Enter] - selects the right fixtures. However if I then try applying [Color Palette] [34] to the selected fixtures the selection is lost and the colour change doesn't take effect.

Likewise, trying to apply [Color Palette] [34] after [Chan] [91] [Thru] [100] [Query] [Beam Palette] [24] [Enter] doesn't always work.

Also after making a selection from a Query, Select-Last sometimes selects the list of channels that was returned by the query (in which case modifying the selection works fine) and sometimes it returns the query itself to the command line.

This seems like a really useful function, and it's quite probable I'm missing something really obvious so any tips to get it to work every time would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

  • It should work exactly as you describe. The [Enter] selects the query, and then your next command that affects the selected channels (such as Color Palette), should repaint your command line so that the list of channels is used instead of the query command.

Ex: [Query CP 33 Enter] Where channels 1 > 5 are in CP 33, 1 > 5 are now selected. If you then press [Color Palette], the command line changes to

[Chan 1 Thru 5 Color Palette]

However, there appears to be a defect if [query] is not the first command on the command line, that makes it select properly, but the next command adds to the query instead of changing the command line to a list of channels. This is the case in your example that starts with  [Chan 91 thru 100 Query]

Thanks for letting us know, so I can fix it though.
