Printer selection

I just hooked up a new printer to my Eos, I went into the shell to change printer settings and only found 3 printers to choose from.  My question is how do I add another printer to the desk?  I can't seem to find anything in the book about printers, also I didn't see anywhere to change the settings in the shell other then to select one of the three that are already exist.   If anyone can help that would great.

Thanks,

Ryan

  • Well I just spoke to Ben Smith at tech services and he informed me that the desk only supports the 3 printers that are already there.  He says this is on the todo list and to just take show onto a OLE and use windows default printer to print info.  Thanks to tech support.

  • Hi Ryan,

Have your tried printing to a file?

In Eos 1.2 we included a feature to print to a PDF file. This is a great feature.

Here are some benefits of the PDF option…
    • The PDF file includes hyperlinks. Cue lists link to cue data. Palette and Preset references in a cue link to the Palette or Preset data…
    • You can edit the PDF file to remove data you do not want.
    • Generating a PDF file is MUCH faster than printing hundreds of pages of show data.
    • You can print the PDF file at your leisure from any computer.
    • You will save a small forest.

    That said…
We are trying to find a way to include printer drivers for a broad range of printers. We will add support for more printers if we can find a reasonable method for adding them without compromising the stability of the console.

  • Hi dvarian,

In this PDF export file, it would be cool to be able to print patch by dimmer, ala Obsession. In my theater, I have many dimmers with outputs in multiple locations. Because of this, at a certain point in the hang it is handy to have the patch printed out by dimmer to see what is available without running back to the board. Obsession would print patch by dimmer in rows, not columns, which also saved a lot of paper.

  • Yes, I have done that and it works pretty well.  Hopefully in the future there we all shall be able to do it straight from the desk, or buy the specifc printer.  Unfortunately my boss would love to see a print out of a "show channels in use only."
