Basic question !

I'll frequently make a group of all the channels and just select this to take everything out. It has the added benifit of being able to leave work and house lights out of it so you're not taking those out if you want them to remain up.

On the eos you wold use just use the [select active button]...all by itself...

Not sure why you are hitting [select last] first?  That would only include any channels you used in previous command line.

On the Ion you have to hold select last so that the select active soft key is displayed. 

That's a great idea Eric thanks for that. 

Groups are great and that is what I use as well. Also, if I recall correctly you don't have to keep pressing the shift key after pressing select last. The softkeys will repaint and stay on the lcd even after letting go of the shift key.

Why not the Grand Master or BO button?
