Custom Fixtures and Channel Parts

As there are several new fixtures out there since the latest library updates, I am curious as to the schedule for releasing fixture library updates outside of software releases.

Also,  When you create a custom fixture, how would I get that fixture profile to have different parts to it?

I ask the question because I am trying to patch Apollo Right arm fixtures into the console and there is no personality for them.  I have successfully created a profile for them and patched them with control no problem.  But to get control over the lamp in the fixture in the same channel, I have to manually create a second part with a type of dimmer and assign that to the channel.

Conversely, when I patch a City Theatrical AutoYoke, the second part to control the lamp is automatically created.

Is there a way to set up the profile with this second part automatically?

Am I making sense?

  • I believe that it is external - thus the need for the separate channel part with it's type being dimmer.
  • Our fixture definitions have a setting that tells Eos to create the extra part for the remote address. This setting should be added to the fixture editor so that you can set it yourself when creating a custom fixture. Currently the fixture editor does not allow you to set this property, but we'll add a way to set it.
  • Thanks Dan!  That is exactly what I am asking for.
