Re: Step Based Effects - Variable Cycle Time on Fader?

The question was posed 2 years ago, but is there a solution to adjusting the cycle time of an effect via sub or cue? Or any other suggestions?

I've built a simple absolute effect with step 1 to full and step 2 to 0.

In cue 1- I would like the cycle time to be 1.5.

In cue 2- The cycle time change to 3 in a 20-count fade.

In essence- slow to fast strobe.

We've built 2 effects and fired them individually with 2 separate cues, but it doesn't result in smooth transition.

Thoughts?

  • What type of fixture are you using to create this effect?

  • Hey Jason,

Likely the easiest way of achieving this is to put a cue level override on the effect. In your example, create the effect that has the cycle time of 1.5 seconds.Go ahead and store that into Cue 1 like you previously mentioned.

In cue 2, open up the effect status display ([Displays] {Effect Status}).   Using the cursor, select the 100 located under the Rate column for the effect that was created. The softkeys should have repainted, and you should be able to press the {Rate} softkey. Type in a rate of 50 (or whatever rate you want) and then record or update this change into Cue 2. The fade is based off of the intensity up time, so make sure q2 has an up time of 20.

    Hope this helps.
